The most unbelievable thing we saw while in Maryland...

Really.  Who knew there could be such a thing.  Although I have made my peace with the dears and don't get upset anymore when they empty my bird feeders, I'm not sure I could jump into an effort to save them. ;)

We did actually spot quite a bit of wildlife during our 30 minute drive through Blackwater NWP... although the parents weren't fishing as Cherry had said she saw, we did see both Osprey parents with their, it appeared to be 3, young.  Darling to watch.  We also caught sight of a couple of bald eagles, a muskrat, and an adorable, quite large, turtle making it's way over to an egret (hoping it wouldn't be lunch).

First week of work

First week of work went fairly smoothly.  And when someone brought in plates of cake for each of us in the office on friday, I thought, ' I can handle this'.

But really this post is about my sweet family.  They have been such a joy this week.  So far for dinner I've gotten to enjoy Gunk (a family favorite...not really mine but Milla makes it the best), enchiladas, pancakes with berry sauce, and Grilled Orange Chicken.  Yum.  The kids always had dinner going when I arrived home at 5, but sometimes I got to work along side one of my kiddos to finish up.  Which is what I love.  Sean was a little overwhelmed by the heat of the grill making the orange chicken, but he learned, stuck it out, and, I will say, ended with fabulous results.  I will be sad when school starts, I will fit in my work while the kids are at school, and cooking will be up to me again... Ah, well.

Last night I was soooo tired.  With Brandon out of town to move his mother to Utah, we had pizza night and finished watching 'Fiddler on the Roof'. We had found the movie in the 'free box' at our favorite used bookstore a couple of weeks before and I was aching to see it again.  To my surprise, the kids loved it.  They were laughing, quoting, and breaking out in dance throughout.  Who couldn't though, really?

Afterwords, I told Catherine that I was too tired to read.  Maybe she would read to me?  She ran out of my room and soon came back with the book 'Owen'.  She read, tucked me in, and sang me a lullaby.  I was out in 2 minutes.  I always knew, having kids, they would someday take care of me.  Just didn't realize that day would come so soon.  ;)

Following are pretty much the ONLY pictures I've taken of our recent adventures.  Hopefully some generous family members will share their shots...

milla and rin in a plane cockpit at Franklin Institute.  We planned on staying for a couple hours, but found out upon arriving that the museum was closing early (5pm) that night for a special event , so we had to leave after only 50 minutes of fun.  :(   We did fit in a couple of runs through the giant heart though.

The fam waiting in line for the independence hall tour.  Short, but well worth it.  Unfortunately with it being high 90's and high humidity we didn't do a lot of other wandering around here.  We walked by the building containing the liberty bell and saw the line to get in was at least 100 people long and not moving.  Apparently July 4th weekend is a popular one? Who'd have thunk.  We did, however, discover that there is a big full length window to view the bell from the outside with a long description posted by it.  So we were satisfied with that, although the 'crack' was not visible, we decided we could use our imagination.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are 'project days' (or rather no media days unless it has to do with your project...) in our house.  This last Tuesday, Catherine decided to make a 'care package' to mail to her best friend Mimi in La Grande.  When I arrived home from work, Catherine presented this package,  all taped together and ready for mailing.  Contents: homemade chocolate cookies (that she'd baked herself), a made 'best friends book', and a toy dog she'd purchased with her allowance money.
