A couple of Rin produced movie clips...

Who wants to see the Harlem Globetrotters anyway

So as all of you reading this know, I FINALLY reached the big 40 this month.  Never really bothered me getting another year older, and it didn't this year either.  I'm hoping I'm learning a few things as I go along, so moving forward is better than trying not to.
Besides, I always get a great pie or cake out of it.  And this year was no exception.
Here is my berry cheesecake pie that I came home to after my weekend away with Brandon.  Mmmm.  Cheesecake. Strawberries. Chocolate. And yes, I let the family all share the half I didn't eat.
Here's my hot date. Still lookin' good after 20 years of putting up with me. ;)

Saturday March 12. Birthday weekend begins.
Mom Eyre has dropped in to hang with the kids while we go 'away'.  But before this, Brandon has planned for us all to go to see the Harlem Globetrotters who just happened to be playing in Denver that day. We are leaving at noon for the game.
10 am: Brandon suddenly has a freak moment. 'Carrie! I just realized that I think I bought the tickets before mom decided to come! I think I only got 6 of them!'
*runs out of room*
10:10am: Brandon returns. 'Crisis averted! I've got 7.  We're good to go'
11am: Brandon is still running around with last minute birthday prep as I sit on the couch and chat.
11:15: Brandon walks slowly towards me with a wimpery little puppy voice. 'Carrie, don't hate me, but I just looked at the tickets I bought and they are for TOMORROW.  I have no idea how this happened. I feel terrible'
11:15-11:45: Brandon is on the phone trying to work something out, but to no avail. The fam will just have to miss it and Brandon and I will just go the next day as we will be staying downtown anyhow.
12 Noon: we catch a showing of 'Zootopia' and have a blast.  All is well.

That evening Brandon and I check in to our hotel in Denver just one block away from the Arts Complex; walkable to just about everywhere.  The weather is gorgeous and in the 60's all weekend and we have a blast just exploring UC Denver, museum of contemporary art, Larimer Square, 16th street mall.  We even go to church downtown Sunday morning, and after getting to take an elevator to the chapel (that's a first), we run into Elder Bowers who had just been to our home for dinner the week before and who had just been transferred to the City Park Ward, unbeknownst to us. He was happy to see some familiar faces. :)

Bubble garden in the youth area of the m. of contemporary art. Not sure WHY this was fun. But it was.

So we start walking over to the Pepsi Center  at 12:45 to see the Globetrotters.  Plenty of time for the 2pm show.  Get there at 1, but the doors to the box office are locked.  Weird. So we start walking around the building and find people entering through a solitary unlocked door.  At this point I am needing to use the bathroom *pretty* badly, so I was glad that we so quickly got through security.  Brandon is wondering aloud how we got in without presenting tickets.  I'm just looking for a toilet.  Finally!
I run in and Brandon waits for me.  Feeling better, I head out and see Brandon. Looking...strange...something is not right.
'Carrie, you are either going to laugh or you are going to cry.  So I was just looking over our tickets again.  And they say. The game.  It's in Loveland today.' (an hour north).

Well, we ended up getting to see, for free, the State Final championship game, of the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association. 10 and under category.
I'm just going to say. Little Sarkowsky totally rocked it.  We just kept screaming to him, 'gotta get the puck off the ice, kid!'  And he did. Twice.

Anyhow, ended up being a good time.
From my glory days...

And Brandon's...and I thought I had big feet.
Last but not least, a little selfie from RiverDance
